About ยท Our mission

Change how people live with dogs

From commanding them to understanding them.

The shift we are after

Most dog training starts and ends with obedience: getting the dog to do what it is told. The Hachi Way starts somewhere else, with a dog whose needs are met and whose body language is understood, and the behaviour that follows from that. The mission is to make that the ordinary way people raise dogs, not the exception.

What attachment theory did for parenting

A generation ago, most parenting advice was about control and compliance. Attachment theory moved the culture toward understanding the child first, and the rest followed. Dogs are overdue the same shift. The book you wish you had read before you brought your dog home does not really exist yet. That gap is the work.

Why it matters

Too many dogs are given up, or worse, for behaviour that was preventable, and too many owners are told to command harder when the dog needed something else entirely. Diona's childhood dog, an Akita named Pigeon, was one of them. The method is what she built afterward, so that fewer households end up there. Read the founder's story.

How we get there

Teach owners to read their own dog. Train trainers to teach it, so the method reaches further than any one practitioner could and outlasts any single trainer. A book, and a wider conversation about how we live with dogs, in time.
